Boat Hire and Fishing

Exploring the River Fowey and its estuary is a must, and hiring a motor boat from Fowey Marine Guest House makes it easy and, above all, enjoyable. Craft may be used from the mouth of the river all the way up to the navigable limits at the mediaeval villages of Pont and Lerrin, which are only accessible at the highest of tides and so great care must be taken when venturing upstream. Lerrin is a quiet waterside village with a good pub/restaurant called the Ship Inn. Please note that the Harbour Master’s permission must be given if you are going above Golant.

There are also some attractive beaches and grass banks on which to have a picnic away from the bustle of every day life. There are many quiet miles of water within the harbour in which to relax and enjoy the ambience, and, in the more secluded stretches of the river, herons, kingfishers, mullet and sea trout can be watched.

The 2007 boating season begins Easter. We have two new 17ft spacious day boats, which are ideal for fishing and other parties out on the river or within the harbour. Please enquire for daily and weekly charges. Fishing tackle shop adjacent to the Guest House supplies bait and equipment.
